Xerus
Xerus is any of the four varieties of African ground squirrel located throughout southerly Africa. These squirrels like meadows, open woodlands, or rough country, residing in burrows.
They stay in nests with consisting of around 19 to 20 individuals in a team. Their diet consists of: turfs, fruits, seeds, grains, roots, and also sometimes, consume insects, small animals and bird eggs. The South African Ground Squirrel does not hibernate.
